I've spent weeks now trying to figure out everything that I have to do to get this business up and running. It's actually exhausting and I know that everyone who builds a business goes through these things but HOLY MOLY...
I set up the business then I had to get an EIN, next it was insurance, a logo and website, blog (hey there), several social media platforms, business cards, sales tax license...I will need to get a Greeley Business License to be in the Greeley Farmer's Market, and additional insurance for some other reason that I can't remember right now... BUT, I think I'm nearing the end of the bureaucratic requirements. I acquired my sales tax license today and to say that was a lot of questions that I didn't know the answer to, would be an understatement.
At least when I signed, I was acknowledging that it was to the BEST of my knowledge...not that it was absolutely true because I have no idea when or if I will have employees...unless, do I count as an employee? I don't know. But I counted myself as one.
I know for a fact that most people who own businesses don't have business degrees, and a lot of business owners are just winging it...so why does the bureaucracy make it so difficult?!?!
Anyway, all of this to say...I wish we could go back to a time when you didn't have to jump through so many hoops and perform miracles just to start a business (or live in our society for that matter). I understand that it's to ensure that people are held accountable and to prevent fraud, etc. but it feels more like the powers-that-be are just trying to dissuade people from making money on their own terms. Which really would not surprise me.
Either way, I'm proud of how far I've come and I'm determined to make this a successful business...because, well, it has to work. That's it.
I know this post is mostly me complaining, but I promise that in the future, this blog will be more fun. I'll feature different ways to use the chili crisp and different recipes to try... I might even have guest authors and more interactive content! I know people don't really read blogs anymore, but if you do and you have any ideas, send them my way!!!
Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to hear from some of you in the future.
